Coach: Emma Bennett

Coach Emma comes from a family of rowers. She started her own journey with the sport in 2011 as a junior rower for Whatcom Rowing Association in Bellingham, Washington. After high school, she attended the University of Washington and joined their crew team for some of her time there. While at the University, she studied Comparative History of Ideas (CHID), while also volunteering with Seize the Oar as coach. Quickly, she found a passion for sharing the sport in a way she hadn't before and the activism of this coaching role. She designed her thesis for "CHID" around rowing and allyship in the Pacific Northwest. Emma is easily excited by many aspects of rowing, while also deeply passionate about Seize the Oar's efforts in the community. She believes inclusivity, understanding, and advocacy are vital for our community's success and hopes to share Seize the Oar's mission in more ways than on the water.
